The proposed Shillong Medical College (SMC), established by the Meghalaya Health & Family Welfare Department, is the state’s first government medical college approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for the 2025-26 academic session, with an initial intake of 50 MBBS seats. Operating as a brownfield institution, it utilizes the existing infrastructure of Civil Hospital and Ganesh Das Hospital as teaching facilities. The college aims to enhance medical education and healthcare in the region and began classes in late September 2025.

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths.
  • Must have qualified NEET-UG
  • Must be 17 years or older on or before 31st December of the admission year
  • Must have a valid domicile certificate
  • Must participate in State NEET counseling.

Admission  Process 

  • Candidates must apply online directly to NEIGRIHMS via their official website at www.neigrihms.gov.in.
  • Pay a non-refundable application processing fee is required to be paid online. 
  • Participate in Counselling: After the NEET results are declared, you must participate in the Meghalaya NEET Counselling for the allocated seats. 
  • Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted based on your NEET score and rank through the counseling process.
