The foundation of the college dates back to 1864<\/strong>, when it was originally established as Temple Medical School<\/strong>, making it one of the earliest center of modern medical education in India.In 1928<\/strong>, the institution was upgraded and formally renamed Government Medical College, Amritsar<\/strong>, marking a major milestone in its academic journey.
