Fee Hikes in UP Medical & Dental Colleges: Here’s What You Need to Know

In early July 2025, Uttar Pradesh’s Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME–UP) issued official notifications approving a sharp increase in tuition fees for several private UP Medical and Dental Colleges, including those with minority quotas. The hikes range from ₹2 lakh to ₹3.5 lakh per year, and surprisingly, they apply even to students who joined in 2024, who must now pay the difference in four equal installments over 2025–26.

NEET UG 2025 Answer Key Released

What Triggered This Fee Revision in UP Medical & Dental Colleges?

A fee‑regulation committee, chaired by the Principal Secretary of Medical Education, reviewed tuition proposals from private colleges and worked out revised fee caps. The High Court granted permission to implement them to UP Medical & Dental Colleges starting 2025–26—impacting both new and continuing students in select colleges like Sharda University, Rohilkhand Medical College, TS Mishra, GS Medical Hapur, Rama Medical College, among others (

In the case of non‑minority private BDS colleges, a similar committee conducted multiple meetings between February and June 2025, and the state finally notified the approved tuition fees for 2025–26 across around 19 colleges—including names like ITS, Subharti, Saraswati, Kalka, Rama, Indraprastha Dental—with fees ranging from ~₹2.9 lakh to ₹5.5 lakh per year. Hostel charges are also fixed: ~₹98,000 for non‑AC, ₹1.21 lakh for AC rooms

What Does This Mean for You?

    1. Budget Shock for 2024 Admits

If your child got admission in 2024, you’re now asked to pay the extra amount, spread across four installments during the upcoming academic year. That’s unexpected financial pressure.

    2. Planning for 2025‑26 Seats

If you’re sitting NEET 2025 and eyeing private/private‑minority colleges in UP, be prepared for much higher tuition than previously estimated. What once was ₹10–12 lakh/year could now be ₹13–16 lakh or more, especially in minority‑quota colleges like Teerthankar Mahaveer, Integral, F.H. Medical, Era, Career Institute, where fees hover around ₹15–17 lakh/year

    3. UP NEET Counselling Impacts

The fee structure is part of the official UP NEET UG 2025 Counselling Brochure, which outlines eligibility, reservation, fee payment rules, and more. Registration begins from 18–28 July 2025, so families must have clear financial plans before filling out choices during Round 1 counselling

    2. Compare the fee schedule by college—even within the same university, fees vary significantly.
    3. Discuss the financial impact openly with your family, mentors, or financial advisors.
    4. During UP NEET counselling (18–28 July 2025), use the official fee structure as a benchmark—don’t rely on older fee information.

    [mbbs_india_banner]

    FAQs

No. Only private and minority‑quota private medical/dental colleges are involved. State government college fees remain unchanged.

Some colleges offer scholarships or flexible payment plans—ask early. Explore state quota seats or consider taking a year for merit improvement.

For 2025–26, the state has fixed them formally. Any increases might come in future years after the committee reviews.

Madhya Pradesh’s Key Education Schemes: For many students across Madhya Pradesh, education is not just about getting a degree—it’s about rewriting their future. But talent alone isn’t always enough. Financial limitations often stand in the way. That’s why the state government continues to offer well-structured scholarship schemes, ensuring that students don’t have to choose between academic potential and economic pressure.

NEET UG 2025 Answer Key Released

    Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana (MMVY)

For students who have consistently performed well in academics.

This scheme supports meritorious students from General, OBC, SC, and ST categories who’ve scored:

    • At least 70% in Class 12 (MP Board) or 85% (CBSE/ICSE)
    • Family income must be below ₹6 lakh/year

It covers full tuition fees for professional undergraduate courses like engineering, medicine, law, and management at government and select private colleges.

Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Shiksha Protsahan) Yojana

For the children of unorganised sector workers.

Higher education can feel out of reach when daily survival is the priority. This scheme aims to change that by supporting students whose parents are registered with the Unorganised Workers Welfare Board.

    Eligibility includes:

    • Selection through competitive exams like NEET, JEE, CLAT, etc.
    • Admission to recognised institutions
    • Full fee coverage for professional courses

Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) Students

Education beyond Class 10 can be transformative, but also costly. This scheme is specifically for ST students pursuing Class 11 and onwards.

    • Family income up to ₹2.5 lakh = full scholarship
    • Income above ₹2.5 lakh = partial support

It includes tuition, exam, boarding fees, and a maintenance allowance.

Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste (SC) Students

Much like the ST scholarship, this is tailored for SC students continuing studies beyond Class 10.

    • Family income under ₹2.5 lakh qualifies for complete coverage
    • Above that, partial assistance is still available

Support includes tuition fee reimbursement and monthly allowances.

    EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Scholarship

Not everyone who needs help fits into traditional reservation categories. That’s where the EWS scholarship comes in—meant for General category students whose family income is under ₹3 lakh/year.

It supports post-matric education (Class 11 onward) through tuition reimbursement and other educational expenses.

    • A lot of students miss out on scholarships simply because they assume they won’t qualify. But you never really know until you check. Take a few minutes to go through the rules—you might be eligible even if you think you’re not.
    • When it comes to uploading documents, don’t rush. We’ve seen so many applications rejected just because a file was blurry, too big, or in the wrong format. It’s a small step, but it really matters. Think of it as putting your best foot forward.
    • Try not to wait till the last day to apply. Websites slow down, errors creep in, and panic sets in. If you start early, you’ll have enough time to fix anything without the stress.
    • Use your own phone number and email when registering. It sounds simple, but it’s so important, especially when you’re waiting for OTPs or application updates. If it’s your future, the details should be yours too.

    For Ex-Servicemen (ES) Category Candidates

Are you an Odisha-native candidate from an Ex-Serviceman background and NEET UG 2025 qualified? If yes, you must follow this process carefully.

What You Need to Do for NEET UG 2025 Odisha Counselling?

    1. Report in person to the Rajya Sainik Board, IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar on the scheduled dates:
      • 23rd and 24th July, 2025
    2. Carry these documents:
      • NEET UG 2025 Admit Card and Rank Card
      • Photo ID proof
      • Parents’ service-related documents (retirement certificate, ID, discharge book, etc.)

The Rajya Sainik Board will verify your documents and send a final list of eligible ES category candidates to OJEE.
Admission will only be given based on this list. If your name isn’t on it, you cannot claim ES category seats — even if you have documents.

    Important

Failing to appear in person on the specified dates will result in loss of ES category consideration.

    Expert Tips from Radical Education

    • Be present physically– Whether it’s the Medical Board or the ES Board, attendance is mandatory. There is no online alternative and no second chance.
    • Get your documents triple-checked– Even small errors like a mismatch in name between your UDID card and NEET admit card can block your claim. Have an expert verify them early.
    • Set reminders and alert your family– These dates are easy to forget amidst post-NEET stress. Set calendar alerts and inform your family about the documentation needs and physical reporting dates.
    • Don’t wait till the last hour– Start gathering documents NOW. Don’t assume you’ll be allowed to upload or visit later. This process has no leniency.
